I'm writing this on Tuesday evening...surgery is first thing tomorrow morning. I got to meet Dr. Cobourn today. You can just feel how positive that guy is...he's absolutely walking on clouds, he gets so excited talking about the band. Now here's one guy who's fulfilling his true calling! He is such a nice guy and he just exudes positive energy.

I'm not nervous yet...I wonder when the "breakdown" part will happen? lol

Here I go! Tomorrow I will have my band!:(

I'm right there with you, Sunshine! I check in at 9:30 tomorrow morning and will be in surgery at 11:40. I'm glad you liked your surgeon. I got a really great feeling from mine as well. He is best friends with my knee doctor, and my general practitioner knows him well, too. Good luck to you! See you on the other side :(

All the best for tomorrow CanadaSunshine. Dr.Cobourn is very nice and very good at what he does so you are in good hands. I had my surgery on June 23rd and have done great. The first weekend was the toughest and now I am just a little sore at my port site. How long are you staying in town after the surgery?

I was banded my Dr. Cobourn on the 14th of June. I had no problems with water/liquids post surgery, I could feel ice cold Water go right past the banded area into my lower stomach. You know the feeling when you drink something really cold and you can feel it going down? So I didn't have to just drink small amounts slowly sipping, it just went through as normal, so I could drink regular amounts regularly. The best to you! I'm sure it will go great!

XO

Leila

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
