Surgery is in 17 days and I fell weak and ate a small portion of rice...should I cancel the sugery or do I have enough time to get back on track and shrink my liver????

My Dr. had me on a 10day pre-surgery liquid diet, but you may want to speak to yours to see/review what your particular guidlines are. Don't be so hard on yourself though. We all have days where we don't make the best choices. I personally don't think you should let one setback make or break your surgery:) Hang in there!

Hey Diva,

I dont think one bowl of rice is going to ruin your diet. In fact, 2 days before my surgery I was on liquids and well... I broke down and had my "last" meal. LOL It felt good going down but I felt guilty afterwards. Just get right back up and finish your diet! You can do it!!

Hugs

Thanks ya'll!!! It's just soooo hard...I was going with one doctor in Mexico and got approved and he told me to do a 10 day diet pre-op....I didn't go with him b/c I found my current dr due to financial reasons...well he placed me on a 30 day pre-op diet...I just don't get all the differences...

Don't beat yourself up on it!!! You have come this far,get back on track - 17 days compared to the rest of our lives is a short periodof time. You can do it!! I was told I do not need to start a preop diet till about 7 days before surgery - so I think you have time.

What my nutritionist told me is the more weight I have lost and the smaller myliver is prior to surgery, the easier the doctor will be able to operate. Iwant the best possible job from the doctor - since I will need to live with theresults of the surgery, I want to give him the best possible environment towork in. My intention is to stay away from the kitchen as much as possible. Ifit wasn't so hot I would be out riding more... Instead - I am playing on thecomputer. Did take the son for ride this morning, it was nice.

BTW - I have my surgery June 28th date - I take it that is yours also? I willbe at Memorial Hermann in Houston TX with Dr. Eric Wilson....

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
