Day Four...Pre-Op Diet..Going Well

Recommended Posts

I have to be on a 10 day diet before surgery. I am drinking two Pure Protein Powder vanilla shakes a day. I mix it with 12 oz of 1% milk. (Breakfast and Dinner) I then drink 4 oz of 100% Apple juice. Mid-morning I drink 20 oz of Water. At lunch, I have 1/2 cup of broth and 16oz of water. Midafternoon I have a special K Protein water with Fiber, I mix the packet with 20 oz of water. For dinner a Protein Shake and a popsicle. I tried to eat the yogurt and cottage cheese but it does not seem to satisfy me as much as the drinking. I taking two Flintstones Vitamins in the morning. I feel great and have energy!

Now to my downfall, Easter dinner. I think that I am going to skip the dinner and drop my kids off with the family. No temptations!

I was shocked this morning when I stepped on the scale and had lost a total of 9 lbs.

Temptation sux! Especially on the special food holiday's. I am going to allow myself some rich Soup on that day but thats it as far as the bad foods go. I am being sleeved on the 27th. Can't screw it up now! Good Luck!

It sounds like you're doing great! I am hoping to avoid situations too, but I don't start pre-op till the 6th. Congrats on the 9 lbs, that's awesome!! Good luck!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
