Back Hurting

I NEVER had back problems before surgery and now it seems like the more weight I lose the more my back hurts. I mean really hurt. It is concentrated in the lower region. Has this happened to anyone else. Does it go away with more weight loss?

It probably doesn't have anything to do with weight - back pain tends to get better, not worse with weightloss. You probably have a different problem - could be a musculoskeletal issue with your back or could be pain from something else (kidneys, endometriosis, pancreas, etc).

Hmm...maybe you need a little cleansing of the pipes...just throwing it out there. :rolleyes:

I have back pain at times that seems to coincide with a # 2 (sorry for the TMI).

Weird! Check with your primary. If nothing else, go see a chiropracter that does massage too. I went to one for a while and I swear I was in love with him for how good he got my back feeling. {memories!} lol

      Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

      Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

        As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

        Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
