I'm four months out, it's good and bad

Recommended Posts

As of tomorrow I will be four months out and have lost 42 pounds (53 total). I am happy with what I have lost but I would have liked to have lost more so far. I know what I am doing wrong, I don't really excerise and I have trouble eating 60 grams of Protein but can easily eat 50 or 60 grams of carbs. Getting to 800 calories is difficult without adding extra carbs. I usually only eat good carbs but sometimes I do have a sweet. I still need to lose about 70 lbs more. I'm so happy I had the surgery and I have changed a lot of bad habits but i still have a lot of work to do.

I want to be proud of myself because I have tried for years to lose weight and this is the first time I went past 30 pounds. I'm not asking for any type of sympathy just some feedback.

This forum has been a lifesaver, everyone has there own story, that i really enjoy reading and feel encouraged by. Not to mention how much I have learned from eveyone.

Thank you, Janine

I just had a 3 month follow up with my nut today. She was saying that 1-3 pounds loss a week is good. I am only able to eat around 800 a calories a day. She suggest smaller meals with snacks-not grazing. You will still need to document all food eating. I am to have at least one snack per day of a small fresh fruit and with at least one meal up to 1/2 cup of non-starchy vegetable with my Protein. I was currently focusing on all Proteins and not eating any fruit or vegetable. She said carbs around 60-90 per day is okay. Exercise is definately important-walking if you don't do anything else. I live in an apartment so I walk the parking lot during my lunch break for 20 minutes. Better than nothing. I have also just joined a gym-going 2 days a week. This is a tool and we still need to watch what we eat. Hang in there. You are losing.

Look how great you've done!! It doesen't hurt to sometime have a sweet, I have to say exercise was the key for me and still is. I had to walk 2 miles a day to see loss now I can walk 1 mile and stay close to where I want to be. You should be proud, just don't get discouraged, keep on keepin on!

We are NOT perfect! We all have some kind of issue with food or we wouldn't have had to take such extreme measures. You have done very well and should feel proud!

Please try not to beat yourself up too much. Just buckle down, stay focused and do a little walking (if you can).

Keep the FAITH!

Thanks, I agree with the carbs and walking. I have been keeping a food diary on my fitness pal, which I faithfully put in everything I eat. And looking back my carbs are around 40 to 60 grams, but my Protein is around 40. I just get sick of so much protein. I guess like everyone else I'm still learning what works and what doesn't. Thank you for your input.

The typical weight loss is more in line with percentages than amounts. People who need to lose more lose pounds faster, but it all is about the same percentage. I am 14 weeks and have lost 40 pounds (64 since pre-surgery). For me, that is 32%.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
