Hi Patti, this is the first time I've heard of this type of side effect. I agree with Tiff, it's probably best to seek medical advice.

I hope someone can chime in and offer some help! Let us know how it turns out, and that you are O.K. :)

I have a tingling (numb, asleep) feeling in my little finger since surgery too. I thought it could be a side effect from PPI's or not getting enough B12 but have been off them for a few weeks now and my finger is still numb.

Hi ,

My little finger and my ring finger on my left hand have been numb since the surgery also. I did have some feeling come back in the ring finger, yesterday is the first day I wore a ring and now i have intermittent stabbing pains in my ring finger, the little finger is still numb. Has anyone else experienced this. Surgery date = 11/27/10

Vitamin B-6 overdose can lead to numbness in hands (and possibly feet). Vitamin B-12 deficiency can cause numbness. I would check your Vitamins. I had a patient of mine tell me that he read and article on B-6 causing tingling and numbness in hands and took himself off of it and was back to normal in about a week. Hope your find an answer soon.

OK, i think i figured it out! haven't been taking my vitamins! so i took a B12 subling, and about an hour or two later the tingling went away! so i guess i'm not getting enough meat or somthing through food like i did when i had my band. the only thing i was lacking then was D. so I will totally start taking all my vites again NOW!!!

thanks so much for all of your replies!

Patti

Thanks for the information. I had heard that B-12 deficiency could cause numbness. I have been taking B-12 since surgery. I just checked a couple of my Multivitamins. One has 25mg of B-6 and the other one has 50 mg, which is 1250% and 2500% of daily recommendations. I wonder if I can find a Multivitamin without B-6.

Also folate (B9) deficiency can cause peripheral tingling/numbness.

B12 and B6 will probably help.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
