HELP! Clear Liquid Phase Questions

Recommended Posts

I just got sleeved the 11th and am trying to make this whole clear liquid thing work for the next 2 days, but I have some questions...

Is lemonade okay? I have been drinking Chick-fil-A diet lemonade, but I just read on a post that particle drinks are really dangerous to have week one. I actually asked the doctor in Mexico and he said it was ok, but now I'm scared.

Also, can we have sugar free clear candies like Life Savers SF or gum? I am just struggling with not being able to chew something. Today (the 16th) is the first day I have been really really hungry. I am trying to keep myself busy, but I just keep working on my grocery list for phase II and III....I know, I know I'm torturing myself lol

Hi camera! Congratulations on your recent new sleeved up stomach!! :D

I personally would stay away from anything acidic like lemonades or orange juices right now. If your surgeon said it's ok however it's clearly your own personal decision. Did you mention there are particles in it as well? That would be an important detail to express to the surgeon.

Anyway, IMO it's always better to be safe than sorry. No need to rush anything. If it makes you feel more secure, wait a few weeks before trying it. When you do take tiny sips and wait awhile in between each one so you can guage how you feel with each sip.

All the best!!!

I had mine on the 10th and I have been loving anything crystal light has to offer <3 In fact, they "fed" me lemonade crystal light on my lunch/dinner try in the hospital :)

The liquid is the worst phase for me so I know what you are going through! However, I did take about a 1/4 of a cup of cream of potato Soup and a half of a cup of skim milk and mix and take out all the lumps and add a little spice and OMG I thought it was the best thing EVER!!!

And I am a gum fanaticbiggrin.gif I specifically asked my doc about it and he said as long as you dont chew and eat and suck the whole saver and it has to be sugar free.... and no swallowing the gum , which also have to be SFtongue.gif

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
