Scared silly

Recommended Posts

I'm so excited and nervous at the same time. I can't help but be scared though. WHAT IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG AND I WAKE UP DEAD?? Ok, I know I can't wake up dead. But, I kind of feel guilty all of the sudden for having this surgery, like, if something goes wrong and I "leave" my children and husband. But, if I don't have this surgery, I'll be dead soon anyway probably. Did anyone else feel like this? My surgery is November 10th and my surgeon will be Dr. Daryl Stewart in Denton Texas, (I live in Iowa).

Thanks,

Danielle :)

Girl i know exactly how you feel and i am no where near a surgery date. i am only three months into this thing and that's all i can think about. my dr. told me i should have a date sometime in february it's only october and i am scared to death. i think we are all are scared of the unknown. at least you have a little over a month to worry, i have four whole months to be on pins and needles. to answer your question i think what we both are feeling is absolutely normal. best of luck and God Bless.

I have been feeling the same way. I have been feeling guilty because I worry something will go wrong. I have three precious children and I can't help but to stress about major complications. AHHH! It is driving me crazy! I wish I didn't have to wait until December.

You are totally normal! We have all had these worries and wonders. This is what I had to realize. If you have surgery the risk of complication is there, but minimal. If you stay you are taking greater risks:

* 80% of type II diabetes related to obesity

* 70% of Cardiovascular disease related to obesity

* 42% breast and colon cancer diagnosed among obese individuals

* 30% of gall bladder surgery related to obesity

* 26% of obese people having high blood pressure

Best of luck to you, I wouldn't change any of this and you have loads of support here on the boards.

Anna

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
