Have to be at hospital in 14 hours!

Recommended Posts

Ack! What should I bring with me? Wanted to bring my iPad but too scared it'd get stolen. Sweatpants? T-shirts? Toothpaste? I've never stayed in a hospital before and I guess it's gonna be a 2 day stay.

Plus my nerves are really starting to get the best of me, am I making the right decision? I know I'll feel better once everything is over with, the anticipation is difficult.

Wish me luck everyone!

You're going to do fantastic! Don't take your ipad, things do come up missing sometimes in hospitals. Walk, walk, walk. Let us know how you breezed through it when you can.

Good luck!!

I have to be at the hospital in 13.5 hours and I'm trying to figure out what to take. I know the dr said I'll be able to shower and I'm plannin on loose fitting pj's. I'm starting to panic more than anything. Just last minute jitters. I'm taking a book to read instead of taking my laptop. I am also taking cards so I can play solitare. I'm trying to remember stuff like my cell phone charger. I have been told by more than one person to take my own pillow. I wish you the best of luck :tongue_smilie: Keep us posted. We can swap stories when we're back home :biggrin0:

Don't worry, it will all be over soon, I go in next week, so I know how you feel, but think once it's over we have a new life to begin!!!!! What a way to end a year! Jen

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
