When I went for my cardiologist, my EKG was abnormal, but it was abnormal last year when I had minor surgery and I was told it might just be normally abnormal. He sent me for an echo which was fine and a nuclear stress test. I failed the nuclear stress test, but apparently that is common for women with large chests. My cardio told me that it was probably a false positive, but he wanted me to go for an angiogram.

I've been somewhat freaked out :scared0: by this for the last month and a half, but I've been trying really hard not to think about it. I'm scheduled for an angiogram on Thursday. I've done some reading on the internet, but I've stuck to the clinical stuff from various hospitals because it has made me so anxious. Has anyone had one and can you talk at all about your experience with it? Were you awake during the procedure? How long did it take? Any other things to consider?

I never had one done, but my father and best friend did. They were both under anesthesia and asleep for it. There was some pain in their groin where the probe went into their artery, but other than that, they just rested the rest of the day and were fine. I think you'll be ok too... just relax, it's not an uncommon procedure. You'll be fine :)

GL on thurs!

Thanks, April. Can't wait until it's over. Have to be at the hospital at 5 am tomorrow. :yikes:

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
