Things that the Dr.'s didn't tell us!!!

Recommended Posts

Just to inform those who haven't had the sleeve, Constipation is not a guaranteed fate after this surgery. I've had no problems save for maybe 3rd or 4th week post-op. I generally go daily, every once in a while it's once every 2 days. I also exercise regularly, though, and that tends to get things moving (ever heard of runner's trots? hehe). I don't take Fiber supplements, but I do try to eat 3-4 servings of fruits and vegetables daily and I don't eat low carb.

What do you take? I hate to keep taking a laxative. I put fiber in my Protein Drinks but it doesn't seem to be enough.

I put fiber in my drinks doesn't work either, my surgeon told me to take senna (senokot, maybe another brand in the US) i take one nearly every night now the only way to keep me going. I do eat a bit of fruit and veg, still bad Constipation though :D

When I was pregnant with my 2nd child my feet grew from a size 7.5 to a 9 and I only weighed 167 lbs when she was born. Since surgery, I have lost 84 lbs. and still in a size 9. My wedding rings fit for the first time in years.

I have only had 3 episodes of Constipation since surgery. I think it was due to the pain meds. No problems now.

Same here. Sizes dropping and having problems with my watch spinning around. I am ecstatic about these problems, except for the Constipation of course.!! Got to work on that problem.....

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
