OK, my skin's been out of control since about 1 week post-op - my face is constantly covered in red, itchy, dry blotches and no cream/scrub seems to make it better. I keep waking up at night scratching my face. :bored0:There doesn't seem to be any link to what I'm eating, so I wonder if this has something to do with quick weightloss. Anyone else having skin problems post-surgery?

maybe it's a reaction to the anesthia (sp) I know that I had some side effects until about 3 weeks post op

Are you getting in all your fluids? I know when I struggled with Fluid intake, my skin dried out, and I was itchy. I just had to lotion up daily, and really concentrate on my Fluid intake.

I hope it gets better soon.

I'm drinking a lot of fluids, so I don't think it's a problem. Plus it's not just dry skin, it's more like hives or eczema.

might be worth showing the doctor. Are you drinking Protein Shakes? If so you might be having an alergic reaction

Yoiu probably should ask your doctor just in case. Are you taking in any dairy? Maybe a strange reaction to milk intolerance? Skin changes are not that uncommon and they talk about hair lose and the two are the same in their make up. Are you doing your B Vitamins?

Just an update, my surgeon said it's very unlikely that this is some sort of delayed reaction to anesthesia or a side effect of speedy weightloss. I did lots of sleuthing on MD Consult and Dynamed, where I proceeded to diagnose myself with eczema rather than hives. I then did some more research and discovered that the diphtheria-tetanus-pertussis vaccine I received 2 weeks ago has been linked to hundreds of cases of severe eczema.:scared0: Treatment is just topical steroids (10-12 days), and I have some steroid skin cream at home, so I've just been slathering that on since last night. The itchiness is gone and I have tons of skin flaking off, but the redness is still there. When I first put the cream on, I had pus dripping out of my pores within half an hour, it was the sickest thing ever! I went to this social event today and everyone was STARING - I had to preface every conversation with "This isn't contagious, just so you know..." LOL.

I hope this goes away soon...I couldn't find any info on the timeline for this stuff.

I have had severe skin problems in the 2 weeks since my surgery. The first was a severe allergic reaction to the Lovenox injection, the second might be a reaction to the hydrocodone. The thing I have done that I'm not reading in your post, is that I WENT TO THE DOCTOR. I didn't try to treat myself, and I am a nurse. Go to the doctor. Good luck.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
