I don't know about everybody, but around my period 2 weeks to week before, I get these terrible intense cravings for salty and sweet. Of course, these cravings are so intense I usually give in. I was wondering, after you are sleeved, do you still have intense cravings around your period? I hoping that this will change when I am sleeved.

Sadly, my cravings for salty/sweet things are worse. I blame it on hormones, and I carb load during my ovulation week. It's like my body is preparing for a baby, and it wants to stock up on the "good stuff" LOL.

Cravings are normal. Thin people have cravings, and the sleeve isn't going to change that. It does reduce hunger, but they've operated on our stomach and our brains control cravings. The one thing I've found that gives me that salty/sweet craving are Nature Valley sweet/salty granola bars. I know they are not the best option, but it's better than funyuns and a snickers which is what I usually want. And, yes, I love to eat them simultaneously. 2 funyuns, a bite of snickers, and so on, it's gross, but it's what I crave. I've only given in once, and I felt like crap after I ate it. At least with the granola bar, I'm getting a little Fiber.

I still get PMS cravings. I agree with Tiffy that the secret is to find healthier ways to get that taste combo you crave. I'll have a square or two of dark chocolate with almonds for sweet/salty sensation. The intense dark chocolate really "speaks" to me during PMS. I also like that new line of low carb, low cal chocolate mousses made by Jello. Good way to get that choco fix.

I start a few days before my period and I want carbs. Bad. I give in a little and my weight loss will stall during that week but after my little red monster is gone, my weight drops again. I too have noticed the cravings are more intense and hard to ignore during that time.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
