Question about dating before surgery

Recommended Posts

I'm single and I have been meeting people online and in person, nothing serious has come as of yet but my question is what do you tell people that you've just met about your surgery? There is this one guy that I met a couple of weeks ago and I really like him and he thinks that I'm having a "female surgery". My concern is if he wanted to come see me in the hospital or even at home after surgery and I'm drinking broth and pureed foods.

i'm an odd thinker, but i dont see any reason not to tell him. If he is willing to take the time to come visit, I would assume that he can handle the reason your there. If he doesnt like the reason at least you know now, but i really cant see that happening.

I say tell him the truth now. I think it's easier then explaining later when a) your drinking your food and B) shrinking faster then a person who had "lady surgery". And if he likes you know I don't see why he wouldn't like you after...there will just be less of you. :tongue_smilie: That's what I tell my boyfriend (of 3 yrs) who seems nervous about me having this surgery (he questions how safe it is to remove 85% of ones stomach forever). I just tell him it will make me healthier in the long run so we have more time to spend together and there will just be less of me to nag at him. :lol0:

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
