Turns out I had a leak in my band.

Recommended Posts

I sensed it a long time ago. It seems about at one year, every time I got a fill it would last really well and the band worked for about 3 weeks, but then it would get loose again.

Well, I went for an unfill as part of my plan to get revision, and sure enough out of 10.25cc that were added to my band, only 8cc remained. They tried and tried to get more out, just to make sure, but they got it all. So I was right, my band was leaking at higher pressures. This is why it was getting so annoying.

I'm glad, I'm going for revision....I would NEVER advise someone to "FIX" a band problem....they just seem to come back and it isn't worth the expense.

I feel better knowing it wasn't my imagination all along.

Unfilled and all on my own for the next 3 weeks. But, it shouldn't be too bad, I hope.

Soon I will be losing the "Honorary Sleeve Brother" designation for the Sleeve team.

Oh that sucks it was leaking, but it's great that you've got confirmation on your instincts.

I kind of felt the same way when they found all that scar tissue around my band, and that my port had migrated. My band surgeon made me feel like a loony, and that I was imagining all my pain and discomfort. He pretty much told me I was making it all up.

I'm glad you'll be singing the sleeve song with us soon. Hug your wife for me, hope she is doing well.

As a former "bandster" myself, you've given me even more confirmation that removing that evil piece of plastic from my body was the best decision ever. Good luck on your upcoming surgery. I'm sure your wife will welcome you to "our team" too!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
