Thanks for asking Christie. I'm getting there slowly but surely. I had another follow up today with my dr, he is really happy with how I have done since my last hospital stay. My cough is almost gone and I haven't had to use oxygen for 2 days.

Because I am sedentary due to my back, I have been giving myself 3 heparin shots a day which have left me sore. But, after the dr saw my tummy today, he said I can start going in the pool for activity which means I can stop the shots. I am so happy about that.

I have also lost all of the Water weight I gained in the hospital (26 lbs) so I am feeling more comfy in my own skin now that all that tightness is gone.

My body is still really sore in several places due to pic lines, etc. But, I feel SO much better than I did a week ago.

I know I am behind where I should be. It's really easy to lose site of hope when big things keep happening. However, having crossed these hurdles and being on the other side of them now gives me great hope. I'll soon be catching up to you guys soon, so look out! LOL

Again Christie thanks for asking, it was so very sweet and thoughtful of you.

What an ordeal.! In a few days you will start to feel better as the Water weight comes off and the drugs do their thing. Just try to take it easy and relax, your feeling better is the priorty now, the rest will come. Take care! Trish

I'm glad to hear that you are better Maddie. Look at it this way: My goal weight is 140 also--but I weigh 232--so you are closer than I am already! LOL!

It's all down hill now, Maddie. The weight will just melt off, you watch. It's great that you have a pool. That's the best exercise. We are all so happy that you made it through this terrible ordeal. Congrats!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
