what does FULL feel like?

Recommended Posts

I agree with all of you that have replied to this subject. The "stuck" full feeling that backs up straight to your sternum/throat is so miserable. I am having a really hard time getting in enough Protein. I simply cannot get the Protein Shakes down with becoming extremely nauseated. Tried buying whey protein and adding but it makes me sick too. I have resorted to lowfat yogurt/greek yogurt but with still can't get enough protein in with the amount I can get down. Should I be too worried at this point - managing about 40gr I think a day. Trying to eat things that I can eat that have higher protein (scrambled egg/cheese, pintos mashed with cheese, etc). Any ideas? I am lactose intolerant and cannot get all the dairy shakes down!

If you're lactose intolerant, the whey protein will probably make you sick. I couldn't tolerate them either for that reason. Plus, let's be honest, they taste/smell horrific or have a disgusting texture.

Isopure would work if it wasn't whey protein. You can find soy, or egg base Proteins at GNC and online at various sites. I found soy protein to taste worse than whey.

Can you have pureed meats yet? At the mushy stage (which is what you are describing from my guidelines with the Beans and eggs), I could have chicken, egg, tuna salad. You can mix it with some nonfat greek yogurt and a couple teaspoons of the dry ranch dip packets to sub for mayo or miracle whip. I did use miracle whip as well. I ate a lot of the salads because of the protein counts, and they were all easily digested.

Although I am told I am allowed anything at this point (6 weeks post-op), I am not feeling that comfortable with 'everything'. Eating slow is critical for me. Second to that, I listen to my body and stop eating the moment that fullness kicks in. Like some posters noted above, it doesn't seem like I have had that much but I tell myself if I want more later, I can. Any meats for me are almost too dense so Tiffy I will take your advice and go to the chicken/tuna/egg salads route. Soft foods, Soups or stews really seem to be my comfort zone of eating.

My true challenge is getting in the fluids in between meals .. I am struggling with that and probably only consuming about 6 glasses of Water a day. I am just too full most of the time and I know that isn't enough Fluid for me - I can feel it. I almost feel like I have to wake earlier to give me time to eat and drink all day.

eloquentblue...I feel the same way. I cant seem to get enough Water in. Last night I was feeling really dizzy and couldnt figure out why. I tried to drink a cup of water and went to bed. The only thing I can think of is im not getting enough fluids in. It is hard to fit food , Protein and water in....

Boy I am the same way, It is taking me all day to get in 40-50 oz of fluids. I have had only a few days when I actually got in over 60. But I keep plugging away at it. I'm doing ok on the protien, but I'm getting tired of meat. I was never a big meat eater. It will work out, I'm just glad that I am tolerating everything ok. Finally lost another lb this week. Still amazed that it's not more.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
