Day 2 of the preop diet blues....

Recommended Posts

One day down, 13 more to go. Actually I am cheating already....I am out of town on business and "assumed" I would be able to get the two Protein drinks I like at the GNC here. Dontcha know they were out of both of them. I sm supposed to be doing 2-3 low carb shakes and 1 small low carb, low fat meal. So, I have been doing all low carb low fat meals. Luckily I go home today and have all of my shakes and food ready and waiting. This is gonna be a long two weeks! I gave found that crushed ice is my best friend. If I can crunch on that all day I am ok. Glad I am working at a hospital cuz they have the BEST ice! Gotta look for the rainbow in every storm!

Have a great and inspiring day all!

Hiya

Good luck with the rest of it - I start mine on Thursday, and luckily only have a week, but its all liquids.< /p>

The only plan I have for mine is to get out of the house with the dog when the food urges take me, and read thru my list of all the reasons why I want the surgery done, and how being in tip top health going into it will help me....I can't fail this one having failed every other dieting attempt over the last 22 yrs!!

day three of the pre-op diet here (doc wants three weeks of the pre-op liquid).

Its no party but I just get through it. I've gotten used to carrying around two Siggs - one full of Water & the other full of chicken broth. throw in a couple of organic soy Protein shakes (zero sugars) and that's the day. I've been sitting right at 80g Protein & 800-900 calories for the day.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
