Starting to worry about losing weight pre-op

Recommended Posts

Well last week I lost 5lbs I am on my 2 week pre op diet, with one week left. I can only have Protein Shakes and sugar free liquids. But I added carbmaster yogurt from Krogers it only has 4grams of carbs and 12 grams of protien =80cals. I also eat this AMAZING new cheese it's a 100 cal pack from Kraft called 3 cheese blend. It's my one treat everyday :) And only 1gram of carbs. I have been doing 800-1000cals per day and although it sucks it is somewhat tolerable as long as I keep myself busy. I also eat these prepackaged SF Jello jigglers from krogers called gel bites and that has helped a ton to keep me satisfied.

I don't think I could tolerate 500 cals a day yikes!! You should def. go low carb and you will for sure loose the wt by June 9th. And shrink your liver :)

It was my understanding that the pre op diet is to prepare you and to allow the liver to shrink which makes it easier and safer for the doc to do the sleeve. That is what Dr. Nicks office explained to me. I had to do everything over the phone and via email. I asked so many questions I felt bad for bothering them. I didn't think it was truly about the weight loss at all. Just preparing you and your tummy. I will be 4 weeks out tomorrow and wish I could find some sleevers here in New Mexico. If anyone comes across someone please let me know. Zephra don't stress, you are doing what you should be doing. That alone can stall any kind of weight loss.

Zephra - have you measured yourself at all? It may be you're loosing inches not weight... and that the more you feel the urge to get on the scales each day the worse it'll makeyou feel.

If you can try keeping off the scales for a couple of days, and upping your exercise if possible - you'll be fine....

Good luck hun

Kathy

Well, I had heard that the doctor was pretty strict about his orders and I was ordered to lose 15-20 pounds. I had visions of his canceling my surgery because I didn't lose enough and I just don't think I could handle that.

The 500 calories a day did not bother me at all. I felt very satisfied on that amount as long as it was Protein. However, I have been doing low carb now for 3 days and yesterday, I mowed the grass and had to take a nap because I have NO energy. I lost 3 more pounds as of this morning but I forgot about the lack of energy that I experience before with Atkins. I plan to add a piece of whole wheat toast to my eggs today. I read a few people who would add healthy carbs in the morning felt much better.

So the scale is moving again after almost 2 weeks of stalls and I can breath easier. I am down 9 pounds so I only have 6 more to go in 2 weeks. Thanks for the comments. Now I am going to change my ticker :001_smile:

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
