My program stated 60grams of Protein per day. The body can absorb as much Protein as you put in it. There's a myth floating around that our bodies can only absorb 25-30grams per meal, but it's been debunked by several medical professionals. Apparently, we can digest as much as we consume as long as we are getting the proper amounts of amino acids to help promote protein usage in the body. It also depends on our own individual bodies. There's a lot of factors to consider when it comes to protein absorption and usage in the body.

There's lots of articles on this topic found through Google if you want to read more information that's published out there.

I've read quite a bit and was all prepared for the post op thing with my Protein Shakes etc....but today at my pre op tests when I got my diets the only time I would be comsuming even 60g is in the pre op stage, the post op stages say only 2 shakes a day (they have me on Optifast which is also high carb.....and about 17g Protein per shake.)

I asked about Protein Drinks and was told these would give me everything I required.

So what do I do... just go with their plan and hope I keep my hair??!!! Or add in a very low carb or carb free Protein Drink as well?

Hubby seems to think I should stick to their plan...... but I can admit I am a little scared!

Any recommendations Tiff?

Kathy

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
