The difference good friends can make

Recommended Posts

I am less than a week from my surgery and my friends have created a "team" to support me before and after. Although I know some of them are really worried about the fact I have chosen to go to Mexico and go there alone...they are supporting my decision.

One of my friends leads our corporate travel function so she gets all the international security alerts...and Mexico is a level 4....I keep tell her I live in center city Philly and that's probably a 5...LOL

I am grateful they are not throwing some of the judgement and resistance I have read some folks on here have experienced. Interestingly there are a few folks I am choosing not to tell. I am grown woman who has made this decision. If diet and excercise alone could work for me....they would have by now. I need a tool and this weight is killing me...slowly...but it's killing me. So my supportive friends know...and everyone else can wonder what the hell I'm doing as the weight comes off!

I'm excited and ready...

that's awesome citygal!!

and love your international security "connection" : )

I have a friend who's husband is retired FBI - was one of the president's men. When I left the country a year ago to go to Algeria, she was one of the few who knew exactly where I was going ... just in case I needed help getting out!

You will do great! You have an awesome attitude!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
