Ideas on getting protein in during Clear Liquid phase???

Recommended Posts

I am less than a week out and struggling with the Isopure (or as some call it...Isopuke). That stuff is nasty! Right now I am managing the chicken broth, sugar free Jello, and no sugar-added apple juice. Also eating sugar-free popiscles.

But my question is...what options are there to get in the Protein other than Isopure and chicken broth during the clear liquid phase? Please help. I would appreciate any ideas. I have the unflavored powders? utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury proetin but am unsure what to mix with it.

Thanks!!!:biggrin0:

I haven't had my surgery yet, but I have been experimenting with all of the Protein samples I've collected. I tried mixing the Unjury unflavored protein with Propel or Crystal light and it worked just fine. Hope that helps:)

Jay Robb egg white Protein is not bad at all. I too am experimenting before surgery. You can mix the chocolate with 6 oz of Water and add a little choc or vanilla extract. I haven't tried the vanilla egg white protein, but I'm sure it's good too. The Jay Robb vanilla whey Protein Powder mixed with 6 oz of water and add coconut extract to taste. I would recommend trying either of these. You can get 'sample' size packets at GNC and also at Whole Foods. Good luck!!!

I read on OH that someone used the Isopure to make Jello, and that made the tase bearable. I have not tried that yet myself, but I plan to.

I will be on liquids yet at Easter, so Isopure protien Jello will probably be my Easter dinner! (Unless it sucks, then I might Water down my mashed potatoes with chic broth and eat it like a soup) We'll see...

Take care!

I don't mean to be dumb, but how would you make Jello with Isopure? I'm intrigued.

I think you just mix the Jello with the hot Water like you always make jello. Instead of using cold water, chill the Isopure and replace that with the cold water.

...One of the products that has saved me is a CytoSport item called CytoMax Protein. It comes in ready to drink bottles, has no sugar, fat or carbs. It contains 40 grams of lactose-free whey protein - and it's clear! Another bonus is the flavor, it really is good. There are several flavors, I like the tangerine best. Also, and a real important factor for me - it is sweetened with Splenda, NOT the dreaded mallitol, xylitol or sorbitol, all of which do a horrible number on my GI system.

I bought mine at GNC, I'm sure they sell it elsewhere too.

Good luck!

The only thing that saved me was the Liquid Protein shots from Walmart (or GNC). I used the Body Fortress Super Whey Protein Shot. It has 26g protein, 110 cal, no sugar or aspertame. I get them in 6 packs for less than $12 at Wallyworld...LOL!

I didn't worry about Protein during my five day clear stage. I experimented with Isopure Jello pre-op and unflavored protein powders in chicken broth etc but post-op the thought of any of them made me want to gag. I took a sip of Isopure post-op and that was it, I couldn't look at any of it again. I felt like the Isopure burned my throat. I know that protein is good for healing but I also knew I had a big stockpile of it in my system from eating low carb for months pre-op.

Sorry I took so long to reply, but I just had my surgery yesterday and I am replying from the hospital. When you make Jello, you biol 1 Cup on boiling Water, disolve the Jello, then add 1 cup cold water. Just substitute the 1 cup cold water with a cup of Isopure. That's it! Can't wait to try it myself.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
