My One Year Surgerversary-

Recommended Posts

Wow, congratulations! You look great. I see you've lost 172 pounds, did you lose that all in a year? I have 165 to lose, and I'm feeling kind of overwhelmed, but you have inspired me!

Chancie,

You are my hero lady!!! Sometimes when I see the success of others and I compare it to what I have to do and the thing that is always hard is that I have to lose soooooo much weight and I can't imagine being able to do it, but you are my role model!!!! Keep on loving life and know that you have been an inspiration.

Thanks!

I have to say thank you all for the kind words!!

I also wanted to comment that I never thought of myself as a "role model"... but wantd to share my experience with you all.

Losing 50 pounds and 100 pounds seems daunting when we first start out... but I can understand some of your fears when you think of losing 150 to 200 pounds.

I had all those fears... I thought maybe this surgery won't work for me...thats ALOT of weight to lose!

But it did!!

I didn't make "goal".. but thats ok.. I am still working my tool...... it's slow going now, but I am healthier and feel better than I ever have.

It can be done, and if I can help anyone in anyway. feel free to message me!

Big HUGS to all of you for such great support!!!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
