Fell on the ice last week and broke my rib. Can hardly breathe without crying. pain meds work but make me crazy. Supposed to have surgery April 5 but doctors tell me this takes 6-8 week to feel better. After surgery I will need to cough and breath deeply so I don't get pneumonia. I can't beleive it. supposed to have a stress test next week and am not sure that will happen either. I am not walking but I am taking the needle. I guess I have to tell the cardiologist. it is :scared0:only a week away. Crap!

How awful. I'm so sorry you are in such pain. Your right to be concerned about having your surgery I sure hope that you heal quickly. Maybe your surgery can be rescheduled?

Carol, I'm so very sorry to read this. I hope you heal quickly so that everything else can fall into place for you. In the end, it will all work out perfectly and you'll get your Sleeve.

Carol, I am sooo very sorry to hear this happened to you! Nothing is worse then a broken rib. . .let it mend and get better first before getting sleeved. . . this happened for a reason. . . i know you're dissappointed . . it will all work out in the end. . . good luck with a speedy recovery!

Cwalck,

Best wishes for a really speedy recovery. I bet you can reschedule just a couple weeks later if you explain the situation. You might have to work at the breathing exercises a bit more (like we all should!) but you've got a good six weeks from now to get that rib healing. Increase your protien intake NOW to speed healing. It truly does help. You'll be on track soon, just a short delay.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
