Hello, I am from Michigan, I had my lap band done 1 week ago. Surgery was not as bad as I thought it would be. I am starting to do some housework and feeling better. Family and friends very supportive. So far I have lost 20 pounds since May 1st, when I started the special diet prior to surgery. One more week to go before I can start eating soft foods.

Congratulations and welcome to Bandland! Wow on the weight-loss... that must really be helping you get through the food stages! It's wonderful that you have supportive family and friends but sometimes it's nice to have the support and info from those that have been there... done that... that's where LBT comes in! Welcome!

As of today I have lost 24 pounds being on the high Protein diet. The food comes from facility where my doctor is located in Grand Rapids. I have 6 more days of liquid diet and then I can start eating some soft foods. I consume between 3 and 4 hundred calories daily since the lap band surgery on 05/16/06. Prior to surgery I had to follow the diet with 8 to 9 hundred calories for 2 weeks. This diet has been very fustrating, but wonderful results. I should have logged on to this site sooner, the social worker at hospital let me know it was available after I had the surgery. It is nice to read everyone's comments that has been through the lap band surgery. I see my doctor on 06/02/06, not sure if he will fill my band then or wait for a future date. Thanks for the wonderful welcome. Congrats on your weight loss.:clap2: Looking forward to talking to everyone at Bandland.

I weighed 304. I now weigh 280.

Eunice

Hi Eunice... Does your doctor and dietician know your daily caloric intake??? Seriously... 300 calories is a crazy low number and eventually your body will go into starvation mode. IMHO... that is not enough of a caloric intake to sustain the average rabbit and will lead to health problems. Sorry... I am really happy for you and your weight-loss but I am very concerned that you have such a low caloric intake.

Yes, both the dietician and physician is aware. It is there dietary plan that everyone has to follow. I thought it was extreme. All the food products come from their office. The first few days I could not consume all of the product, but now am really looking forward to real food.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
