How are my March Bandsters!!

Recommended Posts

Elisabeth--

I went back just for him to check....felt like 2 wks was a good college try. He put me on the machine and barium goes thru in 1 sec. He thinks that I got in a vicious cycle of vomit, swell, vomit, swell.....so he put me on liquids the last 2 wks....today was the first day Iwas able to eat solids before supper....only about 1/4 of a cup but I did it!!! :) I did clarify and told him I heard bands can slip if you are too tight....he took me to another surgeon and the 3 of us discussed and it was decided that I would stick w/ liquids for 2 more weeks....I have found hot liquids are the only way too go before anything else....I can now drink liquids the last few days around 9am.....much better :)

Thanks for asking!!

God bless,

Melody

Melody,

I'm glad to hear you're doing better and ended that awful cycle. Because I have only achieved proper restriction these past 12 days, I am just learning how to chew my food thoroughly and am also finding I have problems with some foods (like chicken). I have vomitted food twice and then gone back to Fluid for 24 hours as my surgeon advises.

For me, Breakfast and lunch are no problem. It's dinner that gives me trouble as that's when I have my main meal. I'm finding it takes a full 30 minutes (if not more) to finish my food.

Elisabeth...I'm just the opposite and dinner is easier on me because my band opens up I guess!?!??!

Yesterday I ate food for lunch for the first time and not just Soup....ate a whopping 1/4 of a cup....VERY Yummy and so glad Icould do it!!!

Thanks for keeping up w/ me!!

God Bless,

Melody

I can well imagine how good you must feel being able to eat again after only liquids for two weeks. It seems a lot of people do better with food as the day progresses. dinner is when I have my "hard" Protein and I'm learning to cut 1/2" x 1/2" pieces of food and chew completely before swallowing. It's been 2 weeks since the third fill so I'm still "feeling my way."

I hope you have continued success with solid foods... take it slowly.

Hi guys! Can't believe I am almost at goal. I may be there at 6 mos but probably more realistically in October. Still, I am just shocked at how fast the weight came off. Not saying I didn't have to work for every pound but I just feel SO SO much better now. I am down 67 lbs since surgery and have 14 more to go. I started in a size 16-18 and am now in 10's and 12's. I couldn't be happier. Just wanted to see how the other March bandsters are doing...

You're doing wonderfully, Liz. Congratulations! It took me until fill #3 to get restriction so I now KNOW I have a band and have been doing well. It looks like the March group is really on a losing trend. You'll be a goal in no time at all.

96.4 lbs gone. About that much left to go. I have about 2 weeks until my 6 mo bandiversary so my fingers are still crossed that I see 100# (or more!) gone @ 6 mos...

Hey all! What a fantastic job y'all have done!!!!!!! I was feeling pretty good about my 42 pounds, but wow! y'all are awsome. I had a lot of pb'ing on my 2nd fill, I'm still learning about smaller bites, (the hard way). I think I also have that first bite syndrome as well. I'm conquering it, and once I do, I think I'll be ready for a 3rd fill. I've been doing lots of exercising, weights, and walking and jogging. I do about 4-5 miles a week, 5-6 days. Hopefully that will keep my weight loss going. My kids have noticed, no comments from folks at work, I haven't seen my parents, they're out-of-state, but I keep in touch with my mom on the phone and she knows about my progress, can't wait for her to see me. No one else, nothing, zilch. Oh well, I'll just keep plugging. NSV, out of 22-24 and into

14's.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
