So I am 10 days post op and the incision where my port is has started hurting like crazy! It didnt hurt for the first week but the past few days has been hell! Every time I lay on it or push it against something it hurts so bad! And to make matters worse I sleep on my stomach. Ughh has anyone else had this problem or is something wrong? Im kinda freakin out

Call your doc just to be sure. If you have an infection, don't play around.

I asked if someone has had that problem before. Im sorry but I kinda took that comment as rude and I dont appreciate that. I wasnt asking for a diagnosis and I cannot call my doctor until monday so therefore im stuck

having someone say call your doctor is the right thing to do.

you are not stuck, you can call his office/speak to his nurse or even the local ER if you are concerned..

if it is not red, oozing, hot to touch, it is most likely fine

its sore/healing as the dr cut you and sewn something

into your skin so its gonna be uncomfy.

Some people just have port pain but personally my pain was similar to you (fine at first, got worse) and it ended up being an infection and it took 2 months to clear up. Better to stop it earlier. You can ask the doc to run some test and see what the infection is (staph, bacteria, ect).

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
