Post Op Week 2 (Eating)

Recommended Posts

I will be entering Post Op Week 2 on Saturday. Week 1 has been strictly Clear liquids (broth, popsicles, Water, crystal light, etc)

Week 2 is "thicker liquids":

From my doctors' post op instructions:

One of any of the following: Resume your pre-op Protein shakes! Bariatric Advantage shakes, Optifast shakes, Myoplex, smoothie King Gladiator Shakes

(As meal replacement)

Tomato Soup, other Soups without chunks, Water

NOT MILK!

Can someone tell me any Soups or anything they suggest? Looking to enjoying something other than broth! LOL

Thank you for all your support!

At this point, my surgeon allowed me to eat sugar free jell-o, sugar free puddings, and greek yogurt... did yours say anything regarding these?

Any of the 'creamed' Soups worked well for me and filled me up more than clear broth. For example, pumpkin or squash Soup, split pea (make sure you put it in the blender to puree the peas) or anything else that you like and can puree to smooth out. Good luck with your weight loss journey.

Hey there, how are you feeling? I'm nearly three weeks post op, had some complications but otherwise okay.

How have you been feeling? Been wondering how everything went with your surgery. I go in Monday and am excited

I am doing good. I am not going to lie to you and tell you it has been easy. The first couple of days after surgery...I literally wanted to cry. I was so emotional and questioning, "What the heck did I do to my body?" I was having regrets thinking, "Should I have done this?"

But I can tell you, just one week since surgery and my mindset has completely reversed. I am 13.6 pounds down since I started my journey and 6 pounds since surgery and feeling 95% better than a couple of days ago. I realize my weightloss isn't has much as others, but I started with a 31 BMI. So on the lower end.

Incisions are beginning to itch and still are sore...but I am up and moving. I had my surgery on Friday and was back to work on Tuesday. I have been on clear liquids this week...my mouth is watering at the thought of being on Soups for this coming week! LOL

All in all, everything is going good. Point of advice...don't let the first couple of days get you down or make you "regret" getting it done. They are the hardest. Get past those...and you will feel much better about your decision!

Good luck in your journey! :)

Glad to hear you feel better. I'm soon to be banded and am a little worried how I will feel afterwards. You put it into perspective - thanks :)

I'm happy that your on the road to a better life with band. I am thankful for your honesty and advice. I am prepared for a rough couple of days and have prepared my husband as well. I told him not to freak out if he sees me struggling with pain and emotional upset. I am excited and not as scared as I was. I am ready!

How are you sleeping now?

I am sleeping the same that I have slept since I had surgery 8 days ago. I still can only sleep on my right side or on my back. My port is above my belly button kinda to the left, so sleeping on my left side hasn't been an option. I know many people that say they couldn't sleep in a bed the first couple of nights, I guess I got lucky. My mom and dad had lapband 2 and 3 years ago...so my mom instructed me an easy way to get in bed without it hurting. LOL

My mom's instructions:

Sit on the side of the bed with your feet dangling. Slowly lay down on the bed with your upper body. Once you get down, then pull your feet up. Once I got to that position, I just slowly backed up to somewhat get closer to the middle of the bed. LOL 8 days later...and I am still doing this!

To help the pain, which helped me alot, was while lying in bed, I would put a heating pad on my lower back on the left side (helped with gas pain).

Anyways, I hope this helps!

Let me know if you have any questions!

Toni

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
