How long did you stay in the Green Zone?

Recommended Posts

Once you reached the green zone, how long did you stay there before you needed another fill? I reached the Green Zone about 8 weeks ago, but now I'm thinking I might need a small fill. Perhaps it's head hunger...what a struggle sometimes!

Two months the fist time and now two months again. Head hunger is still there though. I have to physically ask myself if I'm hungry or do I want a quick food fix because I enjoy the flavor? Head hunger does diminish during the green zone, but it does not go away entirely for me.

My doctor explained to me that our pouches adapt and strengthen as we force it to work harder to push food through the stoma. Therefore, your esophagus and pouch become better machines and it can appear that our band has loosened.

Thanks you all! Sounds like the answer is much like the answer to many band-related questions..."every person is different";)

I am finding it very difficult to stay in the green zone. When I got to goal, I asked for some Fluid to be removed from my band as I was still slowly losing weight and I was happy where I was at. Physically, I just could not eat enough food to stop losing. I had been in the green zone for about a year.

After having a small amount removed (0.3cc) my hunger came back with a vengeance and I put on a few lbs. I had a very small fill 0.2cc and it seems to fluctuate day to day. In the green zone when I am very conscientious and eat my Protein first etc., not so green when I eat "slider foods".

I hit the Green Zone 4-5 months after surgery....then another 2-3 months to adjust myself and my habits to the band..not the other way around.....that was 2 years ago...still there...no hunger or cravings..even head hunger has gone because mentally I know it does not matter so I immediately dismiss it to the point it is merly a fleeting thought...... ...I have not had a fill since hitting the Green Zone......

Since I have been so consistent for so long, if I should feel I needed a fill, I know it would be something else rather than a band adjustment, like a dilated pouch for instance which I have come to recognize and know from experience how to deal with that as regular maintenance....

I have had three fills so far, did pretty good after the third fill, but my weight loss is tapering off and I'm noticing that I would like to eat more at meals. I'm scheduled for a fluoroscope on Monday, and then I'll be seeing the APRN next week to find out how the band is doing. I may ask for another small fill depending on what the fluoroscope shows.

How do you recognize a dilated pouch and how do you deal with that ad regular maintenance?

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
