Where should I move? OR, FL, TX, or CA?

Hi all, I want to move out of the Midwest to a warmer climate. I'd like an area with good jobs, water, and nice beaches. Thoughts?

  • Florida has the best beaches and warm weather for sure... no state income tax and our employment rate is 2nd highest in the U.S.

  • Texas, but I'm probably bias. They do have the lowest unemployment rate in the states. Traffic is a nightmare, but I'm in north Fort Worth. I don't know what it is like near the beaches. Summer's

So Guymontag, whats your fancy?

Just wanted to say love NC. I was born in Jacksonville and I have family in Sneadsferry NC. Haven't been back in awhile We we're military so we moved a lot and eventually after retirement got stuck here in TX for the jobs. My husbands in aviation, it's big here. Enjoy it for me. :)

Ever been stationed at Fort Hood?

I'm from the midwest (Iowa), but moved to Texas as soon as I could after college. Texas has lots of jobs (unless you are in education) and it is very pro business. No state income tax. The beaches aren't that great since they are on the Gulf of Mexico, but we have lots of nice lakes. The weather is awesome. What is your occupation?

NC is nice...got beaches, mountains and research triangle park...bustling jobs....and my beloved tarheels

I'm at RTP fairly often for business. Are you in the Raleigh-Durham area?

yep, my ole man ex military also and understand the constant moving...hub is from nc and hence why we are here......let me know if you pass through..

Yea, I sure will.

Hard to Beat Sunny Florida !!! ?

Knew I liked you. Didn't realize you were from FL

yes I live in North Florida, between Lake City and Live Oak... about 30 min from the Ga. border..not close enough to the beach though.. but I grew up in Orlando and lived near Daytona for many years...

I live 100 miles south of Tampa. My mom & sis live in Gainesville and I've camped at the Suwannee River camp up there.I love that area!

One day we'll have to hook up for lunch or something.

I would like that let me know the next time you are coming this way... I own my own business and work at home so I am available most of the time.. I also go to Gainesville to see my surgeon about once a month so that's another good meeting place... you can email me @ charhorse@msn.com

Thanks for your response..

I would love that too! Have lived in both and would like to have both too!

Well I'm biased to Oregon because that's where I'm from. If you live in the metro area, you're only a couple hours away from beaches, hiking, skiing, etc. It's a beautiful place.

Where in Oregon? I am seriously considering relocating to Oregon from Washington.

I'm originally from Oregon...and its gorgeous there. Portland really is central to beaches, mountains, lakes, desert, skiing, etc. The beaches aren't warm though. I also love florida...but its a way different kind of beach than Oregon.
