Has anyone experienced sharp coming and going pain a hour or more after eating that last 15 minutes to few hours? I've been admitted to the hospital after having my band drained of 4.5 CCS of fluid and the pain still there. Doctor thought I was having a stuck episode but felt like nothing I have ever felt before (yes I've had 2 stuck episodes and know them well I believe) I've had this same thing happen 3 times in the last Twp weeks. First two times were 15 minutesish and this one well its been 4.5 hours and thankfully the morphine and zofran have taken the pain away. Any ideas?? I truly don't know what's going on. I'm scheduled for an upper GI Tomarrow. They took blood and oh on a another note my main surgeon is in Maui luck guy. Any ideas would be great. Thanks bandsters!

Could it be Gallbladder?

Gall bladder is a good possibility. I just had mine urgently removed. It frequently is an issue with rapid weight loss of any type, not just gastric banding.

are you having regular BM's could be something related to that.

Yes I have been having regular bowel movements, doctors are still running test. I should be going back for an upper GI this hour to see if my band has slipped possibly and then they are going to check labs and do a ultrasound of the gallbladder. Honestly have no idea whats going on. My stomach is still sore but not clenching like it was last night. Nausea is coming and going. They are giving me zofran and morphine. Although I have not taken morphine since I first came in. This discomfort is nothing compared to last night. I'm also clearly dehydrated. Dark urine, nearly 1000cc of fluid in via iv and I've only gone to the bathroom once, not to mention my veins were crap. Ugh I need to be better now! I can't afford this hospital bill and I have work Tomarrow. :/

I'm going thru the same thing right now. The first time I had a gall bladder attack I thought I was going to be giving birth, it's really scary when you don't know what's happening to your body!

I live in Canada, and the wait lists for the gall bladder doctor can be up to a year, so I've been learning some tricks for my attacks. Apple cidar vinegar helps! Apples help!

I will have to try that. The Dr who is seeing me still thinks it was a stuck episode but I know my body. To me its like yeah I get it I'm fat, and shouldn't have eaten some rice krispys after having a surgery to lose weight but its about moderation and nobody is perfect. We are bound to slip up....but she removed all my Fluid and it only got worse so stuck episode? I think not! When I go back next week to see MY Dr to get my fluid back I'm going to ask for meds to help dissolve gallbladder stones because I don't wanna experience that again. I've never had a baby but I assumed that it was similar to the pain of labor. It was so bad I was almost vomiting. Ugh. I hope you can get help sooner rather than later!!

when i had my gallbladder removed some time ago, after i ate something (the last episode i had sent me to er was after eating pizza no less) and the pain was in between my shoulder blades....and upper back....lord a mercy that hurt....anyhow, just wanted to respond about the could it be gall bladder...and the only way to know for sure is to ask your doctor and maybe get xrayed about stones .....feel better soon

They did an ultrasound n said I have stones but the Dr (who is NOT my dr) said its a "stuck episode" which I call bull Cruz as soon as I said what I ate she had already written it off as that and me being a failure to the band. I tell you what that was not stuck pain that's a fact. I won't ever see her again. Two days I was in the Hosp before she sent someone in to tell me about my band being OK and me having stones. :/

I also had gall bladder issues, had mine out about 2 weeks after ultra sound. I'm also from Canada and I've never ever heard that the wait list for gb dr can be up to a year. It's dangerous to leave a diseased non functioning glall bladder in. If your having issues you should be having this taken care of asap.

See for me they won't take mine because 1) Dr said I had a stuck episode because of what I ate (I do not agree) and 2) its not "inflamed" so they won't take it. To me its a bunch of BS. They could at least give me meds to try and dissolve them before they become more of a problem. I am maintaining the fact that me knowing my body that this was not a "stuck" episode and was intact gallbladder related. Worst pain I've had and I've had a few surgery and recently broke my tailbone so yeah.

I had my ultra sound done and was diagnosed 3 months ago, had everything faxed to the specialist and I'm still waiting for my consult with the specialist. My doctor told me it could be up to a year to have it removed, and every time I have an attack to go to the ER in hopes that they'll eventually just remove it before I even see a specialist. My girlfriend just waited 10.5 months to have hers removed. So yes it can be up to a year, I don't go through the excruciating pain of the attacks for the hell of it.

Well surgery scheduled for next week. My actual Dr said its def my gallbladder, especially after I havnt had fluid in for a week and had another attack two nights ago :/
