Hi! I'm Francine

I had my lap band done on May 30th, 2013. The procedure itself was a breeze it's the gas pains that are killing me. I did not anticipate them to be so bad. I'm still experiencing them but to a lesser degree, thank god. My tummy is so swollen and hard still. The incisions are starting to heal and itch like crazy. I'm still very anxious that someway somehow I will mess this up like I did all of my diets in the past and have wasted 10K. I want to be that skinny girl in my head so bad!!!

I do need some suggestions on how to facilitate taking my pills in the morning. RIght now it is taking me forever to crush them and then taking them like that tastes awful even when I mixed them with Jello. Has anyone come up with a more efficient way to take a large volume of pills. Any suggestions would be helpful. thanks.

Welcome and congratulations! At first I had to do a lot of pill crushing and splitting, but after a week or so I was able to swallow all my pills with no problem. I probably could have done so from the beginning, but I was too scared to try. Just take it slow and maybe spread it out a little if you can? Best wishes to you!

Where your pills BIG? Mine are potassium pills and Metformin. They look like horse pills.

Yes, I had a few larger ones and my Vitamin was big. I used a pill cutter at first and cut them into 1/4's.

Welcome! I'm pretty new too...(6 weeks post op). I also take Metformin...I can swallow it no problems now. Sometimes it feels stuck, but a swallow of Water always sends it down.

I feel constantly bloated, even more so after I drink my shake or eat a popsicle. Burping is nealy impossible....how do you all deal with that?

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
