I got my lapband 12/05/06 in Lincoln Ne with Dr Raymond Taddeucci. I started out with a presurgery weight of 252lbs. After 10 mos i weighed 148lbs. Fast forward until 2009, moved out of Ne to Ky, then to Fl. i guess i dont handle stress well, so i gained back 40lbs. :( 188lbs is where i am currently at 6-1/2yrs after getting my band. I just found out i have a small slip and now a complete unfill- hoping it fixes itself. I wish everyone luck on their weight loss journey & i'm glad to be a part of this great online support group.

Welcome Annette! Lots of us in Florida on here! Where are you at? I live in central Florida about 40 miles from Orlando and same from Tampa! I see a dr in Zephyrhills. I was banded in 2009, I had a revision in 2011 and have, also, gained 30 lbs. I have just had a slight unfill becaue my surgeon felt I was eating around the band. I had stayed away from salads because I had a hard time chewing them well enough. He removed .1 ml of Fluid and I just had my 1st successful salad in 3 years! I would be glad to be your friend! Hi there! I'm from FL TOO! I live in Titusville but my surgeon is in St Petersburg. I could have gotten banded in Melbourne but I attended 3 different seminars. The doctor in Melbourne was cold, clinical and matter of fact. He was not interested in building a rapport with his patients. So I travel from Titusville to St Petersburg once a month until I hit the green zone. I still have not hit that spot yet but I love the drive from the East coast to the West coast. I get to see the beautiful west coast beaches. The sand is like sugar on the west coast.

Anyway aside from the traveling time I have a good rapport with Dr Rehnke. I can at least hold a conversation with him and not feel like a number. By the way I was banded on 12/28/12 and had to have a port revision on May 10th. My port flipped so I had to have ambulatory day surgery to have it repositioned. Hopefully after my next fill I'll be in the green zone. Good luck to all my Floridian pals!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
