I was wondering how much Fluid you got in a 14cc band until you finally felt restriction?

I've been banded almost 8 weeks ago, lost 28lb from pre op to week 2, and since then had lost only 2lb.

I had my first fill 10 days ago (3cc) but nothing changed. I'm still eating what i consider big (not big as before surgery), but i can stay 4-5 hours without eating.. But it i eat small portions i will only make up to 3 hours.. So, thats why i'm probably not loosing :/

I know, i'm living thru band hell (thats whats called right? Lol).. But i want to go back and start to loose weight again!

Tomorrow i'll see my surgeon again, and he may give me another fill!

(My journey i started at 250lb. I'm 5'6")

What determines the band size- I have a 10cc band and currently at 5.3 ccs which is where I finally feel restriction.

i also have a 14cc band

i felt (restriction) from the beginning...when i eat (more then my allotted) it gets uncomfortable and i feel (full).....i do look forward to fills in the future... so until that happens, i will just eat like i am suppose to and stop ..

the size of the band is decided by which one fits around the area there is fat in that area as well so don't let that mean anything to you.

You'll be in "bandster hell" until you get the fill that gives you enough restriction for the band to work it's magic. That may be 1 fill or 6. No one knows. Till then, if you want to lose or maintain, you're on a diet.

This is One of those times that SIZE DOESN'T MATTER!!!...lol

What matters is you, and like everyone said The Fills, Some do well post-op due to swelling of the stomach, others NEED that first fill to feel a little restriction and to experience what it's like as fills continue. Some If they have had the band and plication (Gastric Plication, involves sewing one or more large folds in your stomach. During the Laparoscopic Gastric Plication the stomach volume is reduced about 70% which makes the stomach able to hold less and may help you eat less.)have the benefit of a smaller stomach immediately and might never need a fill. But like previous posts the band is about restriction, we still need to manage our head hunger as well as any other issues we might have. Bandster hell is when nothing you eat seems to give you that feeling of satiety. So from what you've mentioned your doing fine. Perhaps if you increase your Protein intake that might help prolong your satiety.

Good Luck ~

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
