Protein Balls and Protein Shakes

Recommended Posts

I just made my first Protein balls and they were DELICIOUS a great way to have a "Dessert" and yet not feel guilty about having one of them because it's healthy.

I altered the recipe I found and made it a vanilla-orange like flavor. Best thing of it all is no baking is required!!

Kitchenaide is best to be used but otherwise you just need a wooden/really strong spoon

1 cup Almond Butter (called for Peanut Butter but almonds are healthier)

1 cup Agave (you can replace this for honey as well)

5 scoops of vanilla (or vanilla like) Protein powder

3.5 cups old-fashioned oats

1 tsp vanilla extract

Shredded coconut

Orange extract added until taste is reached

Milk added (not a whole lot) for consistency

Added all the above to kitchenaide (except the coconut) and then rolled them into balls and coated them with coconut. Refrigerated overnight, and keep them refrigerated to keep the consistency right.

Made 27 balls and I figured it out it was about 167 calories per ball and about 6-8 (depending upon how much milk you use) of Protein per ball.

Also bought BSN's Syntha-6 Peanut Butter cookie Protein Powder that is delicious in milk or Water both. I'm thinking about trying that protein powder next for these and replacing the almond butter for peanut butter with the peanut butter cookie protein powder. Yum.

Syntha-6 is awesome... its the only Protein powder I use. It is a satisfying quality blend with heathy fats and 5g of Fiber per scoop. Choco-PB is very good, also check out chocolate Mint (if you like mint). IMO that is the best flavor... litterally liquid Andes mints. I also love the strawberry,

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
