Psych eval tonight - nervous

Not sure what really to expect but a little nervous for some reason. I have to go to two separate appts - anyone else have to do this?

  • Nothing to be nervous about. Only thing about mine was filling out 3 questionaires before the evaluation.

  • Don't be nervous, they are there to help you. Just be honest with your answers and you'll be fine. I found mine to be very basic. Seems that they just want to make sure you have a good support syst

  • It's just finding out what kind of person you are really. The first appt. should be a short interview then the second should be a type of personality test. They really want emotionally stable people

It's just finding out what kind of person you are really. The first appt. should be a short interview then the second should be a type of personality test. They really want emotionally stable people undergoing elective surgery instead of people that will have issues post op. Wouldn't worry about it.

What is so funny is that I honestly thought i was going to fail it and not get my band. I was banded April 5.

Wasn't that bad - asked me questions about my family, background, why I wanted the lap band over the other choices, etc. Easy breezy! Cute little MD too - had to be all of 80!

The psych eval is nothing to be afraid of. They only want to know that you are emotionally stable (no suicidal thoughts or tendancies), have a decent support system and understand the changes you are about to make in your life. Just be yourself, answer the questionnaires honestly (one is 344 questions - mostly the same, just asked different ways) and chit chat a bit with the psychologist and you're good to go.

Good luck!!!
