Anyone being banded on April 29th?

Recommended Posts

I'm hoping to find another male that is getting banded the same day to compare results with and exchange tips.

I was banded April 17th and I'm a guy. I can at least tell you what I've gone through. Good luck!

Forensic6, how are you feeling. Are you taking time off from work. I work as a server and gave myself only 3 days off of work. I'm kinda nervous cause serving at the Olive Garden can be a little strenuous. Hope you aren't still in too much pain.

Ksaug21, that's awesome that we are both being banded on the 29th. I'm pretty nervous. Are you? I'm not on any preop diet which someone told me was unusual.

Hey there--I took off almost 2 weeks worth. I sit behind a desk and supervise investigators and case managers. I am 5 days out from surgery and can tell you today is the first day I would have possibly felt like going back to work. I let my wife mow our yard today, which I've never done in the 8 years we've been married. I knew I couldn't have handled it. I would take it easy as a server--that is really labor-intensive. Heck, by day 3 it was still taking me nearly an hour to get down a Protein shake (my meals). That aspect is better today but I still get pretty winded from walking. Good luck to you. I would lose mind if I worked at Olive Garden and couldn't eat any!!! You sir must have amazing willpower :)

You will probably have a lifting restriction after surgery. My surgeon says no lifting over 20lbs for six weeks after. And i was off work 2.5 weeks and i work in an office at a desk. But my employer is very restrictive and wouldn't let me back until the surgeon released me two weeks after. You may or may not be able to resume you're work activity so soon. When you are on all liquids and pain killers you will be very weak. And I'm sure those trays weigh more than 20 lbs.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
