Dr. Michael J. Orris - WLIA - Tempe, AZ

Recommended Posts

Overall the clinical staff is fantastic!

Dr. Orris has been very good - I believe conservative with my band fills, but I respect his judgment. The nursing staff and dietician have been helpful and are very friendly. Yet, the billing staff when trying to get matters of insurance payments resolved was VERY challenged. I would and have recommended Dr. Orris and his clinical staff, but recognize working with his administrative staff and getting insurance in line will be a lesson in patience.

Everyone at WLIA has been wonderful! I have gone through my 6 months of diet before surgery then my few months before my surgery and everyone has been so fantastic at answering my calls an fears as well as my concerns all the time before my surgery and now afterwards. I cant say enough good about Dr Orris and the wonderful staff that work at all of the offices an both of the Nutritionist! Everyone is so caring and dedicated to what they do and I thank you for all of your support now then and in the future!

I saw Dr Orris as part of my weight loss journey in the surgical center. He performed an endoscopy prior to my lapband surgery. I found him to be very professional. He answered all questions thoroughly.

The staff at the surgery center and at The WLIA offices are great!!

I love this place! After a friend had surgery through another company that was just horrible to her, she started going to WLIA instead and the difference was like night and day. Dr. Orris and his staff has given her more success and a support system that wasn't available elsewhere. Because of her reviews, I will always pick WLIA! The group meetings are friendly and you feel welcome every time you attend. Michael Murphy is the best Nutritionist you could ask for. Everyone on the staff have been friendly and helpful.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
