April 15, 201313 yr I'm wondering what the norm is to be off work. I was hoping just a week since I sit at a desk most of the day.
April 15, 201313 yr If you sit at a desk .. maybe like a day or two. That's all. Some people have it on friday cause their off Saturday and sunday and return Monday. It really depends on how you feel and what type of work you do ..I am a cna and do alot of lifting so I am not allowed to work for six weeks ..my work won't let me.. but I feel totally fine. Day after surgery I rested alot then the next day I was up doing house work playing with kids I felt just fine.it's just you cant lift anything over 20 pounds for 6 weeks ... but every ones feels different after surgery so that's up to you

April 15, 201313 yr I just read this and appreciate the question. I was curious about this too. My surgery is May 8th. Its on a wednesday. So going back to work on a Monday is not unthinkable?
April 15, 201313 yr I'm wondering what the norm is to be off work. I was hoping just a week since I sit at a desk most of the day. I too sat at a desk. I had surg on Tuesday and was back on Monday
April 15, 201313 yr This is good to know. I'm going to take off at least 4 days because I need a to relax after my surgery. Not til June
April 15, 201313 yr My surgery is this Thursday and im taking off Wed before to travel and then returning the following Thursday. Im sure ill be fine going back sooner but I want the time to get used to the liquid diet and take time to get myself organized and on track.
April 15, 201313 yr I was perfectly fine 2 days after surgery But it really depends on age, comorbidities, and overall health of the patient. A week should be more than enough even if you are not a "fast healer"
April 15, 201313 yr I had lots of vacation so I took a full week off, but I drove the next day after surgery (within 12 hours) without any problems. I had no problems other than some gas which the heating pad helped me alot.
April 15, 201313 yr i had surgery on a wed and planned to go back that following monday...turns out i just took the entire next week off (for a total of 8 days). i work also at a desk job..am glad i did so i could rest, regulate myself and i am glad i did..
April 15, 201313 yr I also had plication and a hernia repaired. I had scheduled two weeks of vacation even though I have a desk job and was very glad to be off that long. I'm amazed at those that say the were functioning almost normal by the end of the second day. Moving too fast or stretching would cause me such pain for at least five days.
April 15, 201313 yr mine was not the pain.... as a vet. of surgeries... too many to count. I take the time off to just rest. The Anastasia is what gets me...
April 15, 201313 yr Had mine May 30th last year, a Wednesday. It was Memorial weekend went back following Wed. could have done Tuesday. Just felt like I did 100 sit ups
April 15, 201313 yr I am only 12 days post op.. also have a desk job... I had surgery on a Wednesday and was back at work the following Monday... I would say though if I had had the option that Monday and Tue I would have only worked half days bc work kicked my tail even though I just sit on my butt all day... after that I was fine! Good luck w your surgery! !
April 16, 201313 yr Dr said I can go back after 1 week, I took two Weeks off just because, i'm an attorney, allot at desk but do stand sometimes for hours at court.
