The first time you go to the Dr. and they dont have to move the weight on the scale to the 200 mark is one of those moments you go WOW I did it!!!! Im down to 189. Go for my third fill on the 16th. No fill my last appt. because I had lost 8 lbs. I definately would do this all over again. My goal is 150. I feel so much better losing these 40 pounds. I did have the bad gas pains but it goes away. I could not have worked after my surgery. I was lucky to be able to take a week off afterwards.

Good Luck to you its worth every struggle.

How long did you have the gas pains? I'm at two weeks, and it's getting really old. I only feel it in my shoulder at times, but when I do, it's pretty bad.

I weighed myself today and I am in the 100's !!!! I had surgry 1/29/13 and have been working really hard to get there. I stalled for 2 weeks but the scale is moving down again. I am so happy.

That's so great!! I can't wait for that number myself. I'm a little under 5 lbs away right now, but I feel I have been waiting for that moment forever. We have a scale in our house that talks to you. I'm wondering if it even knows how to say any number in the 100's. The only people that step on that scale are myself, my husband and my son..lol.

I feel your pain it was at least two weeks maybe longer. I even called the Dr.s office and they said it just last longer on some people. I used the icy hot Patches, heating pad. I got so tired of it too. Now when I have eaten too much that is where it hurts me, in my left shoulder.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
