weight gained during 6 month management

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I am new to this site, but I just finished my 6 month of the weight management required by my insurance. I must admit I have put on weight. I have just this month lost 5 lbs but I put a total of 19 pounds in the 6 months. I go see the surgeon tomorrow and am a little worried that my weight gain may get me denied. Has anyone had this problem?

I too gained weight during the 6 months prior to my surgery and I didn't have any issues. I have a friend who has gained ALOT of weight and she just got approved. I hope you can get through! Good luck!!

I gained a lot of weight during my 6 months (30lbs!) I was at 34.8 bmi when I started, I think my mindset was "if I don't have a bmi over 35 I won't get approved" Then the surgeon explained that ins. co's get so much money a yr to allot for these surgeries. So they just want to make sure you are committed and they aren't throwing money away. So after hearing that I felt pretty confident I would get approved then I just went into "I won't be able to eat this after surgery" mode, and put on even more weight! Just met with my surgeon today and I'm scheduled for April 16th. I think if you just do everything the ins co requires you'll be fine :-)

Yea. That's what my problem was I just keep thinking I am not going to be able to eat this or that. So I was just eating. I just started really getting on top of trying to lose the weight. I am glad you got your surgery date. I guess I will know more after today. I should be scheduled for some time in April myself. I wish you the best and will keep you all posted later today. Thanks again

Hey yall. I just got in from my last appointment with the surgeon. The nutritionist was glad I had lost 3lbs since the last time I saw her. My surgeon said he will submit my paper work today to the insurance. I had my blood work today and I have to get a IVC filter next week because there is history of blood clots in my family, but so far so good. Now waiting on the authorization. THANKS AGAIN

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
