Day after surgery!!

Recommended Posts

Good morning all! I am new to this site I have really enjoyed reading everyone's questions and stories! So I had my surgery yesterday. My first weigh in at consultation was 220 I started my pre op diet a little early yesterday before surgery I weighed 190! I am so excited about this new healthy life ahead! I felt great yesterday I was really worried how I would feel today so far great no gas pains yet so hopefully it stays that away! Looking forward to meeting new ppl on here for all the wonderful support!! Thank you all for so much information on here!! Is it normal at first to not have a problem drinking I have seen some ppl had a hard time with liquids after surgery. I can not tell a difference yet. Is this normal?

Everyone varies. I never had any trouble with liquids as long as I did not try to gulp down too much at once. Congrats on your surgery and progress so far. Best wishes for your recovery.

I too had mine yesterday. Hiatal repaired too. Have shoulder and neck pain wondering if that's the gas or the hernia repair causing the discomfort.

Did you sleep in recliner? Could only sleep an hour at a time.

Congrats on your loss before surgery, that's AWESOME!!!! Best of luck for a speedy recovery.

I also had hernia repair. I slept in my bed with pillows and I slept through the night. I have been walking a lot and I think that has helped. I hope your gas pains go away soon. Thank you and good luck to you on this new journey!!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
