I started gaining weight back in the middle of November, but still had a restriction (small).. Planned on visiting a dr after the holidays. In the middle of our trip last week, I noticed I had no restriction, that I am eating the way I used to before I was banded. No pain,a little soreness around port site when I press firmly, but other than that no pain. However, my legs and stomach are swollen with Water tight... Swollen like I was when I was 9 months pregnant in the middle of July. :( .

This is my concern, if there is something wrong how come there is no pain ?

I am thinking either a slip, erosion or leak... anyone know what could be happening tio me ?

Oh my gosh... It's as if I wrote this. Very similar symptoms here as well. Going to the Dr. Monday. How long have you been banded? I'm sorry if that info is posted and I asked anyway (I'm limited on what I can see with my app). I've been wondering about a slip too. I'm hoping it's nothing on either one of our parts and it's just a body changing thing that all we need is a small fill or something. I know that different stages in the month can cause the band to be tighter or looser.

I called the Dr. office and spoke to a nurse. She told "so you are telling me you need a fill" I said so overnight I can eat a few bites and then the next week an entire loaf of bread? She was such a b***h, anyways the clinic is 3.5 hours away and they can not get me in until the 23rd, I am changing dr.'s this week. In the mean time I battling being hungry all the time,,, drinking tons of Water, and eating however much I want with no restriction and NEVER getting full. I need help.

Sounds like your eating around the band, not that your band slipped! I was banded in 06 and have become a master at this! You need to try to regroup! Make sure your not drinking 45 minutes before a meal, with the meal, or to soon after the meal....Go back to eating slow again and chewing!!! Eat protien or things that will stay in our stomach longer! I went back to the mushies stage and followed all the rules and I now feel my restriction again without having to get a fill! I know everyone is different but it may be worth a try while your waiting on the doctor! Good Luck and keep us posted!

I lost restriction, but it was near the holidays and so I ignored it just assuming I would go and get a fill in the new year. On Jan 2nd. I started to get a bulge near my port and called the Dr. they said to give it a week and if it didn't get better call again. Today, I went in because the bulge is bigger, hot, and pink. They think my band eroded and that my port got infected because of the erosion. I think its better to be safe than sorry. If you suddenly lose restriction go to your Dr. and ask for an upper GI.

Had the same thing, boatloads of issues, and then one day about 2 months ago, could suddenly eat anything and everything. ALL tests, including GI, endoscopy etc shows lap=band perfectly in place, not eroded, etc. I would suggest you ask your dr about vagus nerve damage?

I have been dealing with this as well. I have gained about 20 pounds since August. I kept telling my surgeon something was wrong. He finally sent me for a GI test to make sure my band still has compression. Turns out my band is fine but my esophogis has developed a pouch that basically allows me to eat more and not feel full or sick. I was told to eat less, which is difficult when you don't feel full. I am trying to cut down but struggling to do so. I am supposed to go back and get tested again to see if the pouch has shrunk. If not then I may have to have my band removed and he suggested I get the sleeve. Problem is my insurance no longer covers this type of surgery so I'm not sure what's going to happen. Keep us updated. I am curious to know if you have the same issue and what your surgeon decides to do.

Same here. Abdominal pain for days but better since I have been eating less. Still bloated though. Like a whale. Miserable. Appt tomorrow with surgeon so we will see. My Gastro did an endoscopy and it showed the band in place. Also had a CT scan of abdomen & pelvis that was normal. Go figure. Will post what happens tomorrow. I'm getting closer to wanting to have it removed. Weight loss 70 lbs. and would love to lose 30 more. But not this way.

I have been with the same problem, I think maybe is a hernia, because my surgeon said port is in place, and I feel really bad, because look like no body care about me at the doctor office. I had a ultrasound on monday and I called today for the results and no body called me back, I called again two hours later and the office was closed, Im feeling really frustrating.

I am feeling a lot better today after a week of mushies only. Two days ago I got a B12 shot because I have had them a few times in the past. No pain in back yesterday or today. I still feel some bloating but much better than before. Today I just heard of Body by Vi shakes and getting the starter kit. Anyone tried it?

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
