2 weeks (and 3 days) post op- not feeling as full anymore.

Recommended Posts

ok, i just ate lunch and i'm satisfied but not full. I guess thats a good place to be at. But I ate a cup of tortilla Soup (and there was no tortilla strips in it). I thought 1/2 cup of food was to make me feel full. I feel guilty that i just ate a whole cup, lol. Is this because it runs right through the band (besides a few chunky parts) instead of sitting there? Gosh...sometimes i wanna tap on my stomach (where the band is) and say "is this thing on?!?!" ok thanks for your thoughts.

Same thing happened to me, I understand its because the swelling is going down and your body is healing. I don't know if it will be the same way for you, but I have been able to eat a cup of food easily ever since I finished my liquid phases, and in fact as time goes by I am getting hungrier faster after I eat. They say its normal and not to sweat it this early. :)

I think it is typical to be able to eat more as you heal. I eat to feel satisfied. Usually if I feel full, later I regret it. It means that I really overate. That's just me though... everyone is different. We all experienced being able to eat more as we heal. Trust your doctor to tell you when it is time for a fill. Just be honest with him about how much you eat each meal. Logging food still helps me with that.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
