slippage

Recommended Posts

What does a slip fills like? I hear people saying their band moved or the pouch was gone and had to have another surgery. I am curios to know what it fills like. I was banded on 11/26/12 and to date I don't fill like I have any restrictions. I hope my band hasn't moved.

u shouldn't feel anything you are in the healing stage it will take a few fills to get it where u need it. don't worry there is nothing to slip at this point. just rest and heal and a learn how to eat again good luck

Most likely you will not feel any significant restriction from your band until you have had at least a couple of fills...and you are definitely still in the healing stage. I did have some degree of restriction from day 1 without my band being primed with any Fluid.

Over time, you will get to "know" your band and what it feels like when it is working as it should. When a band slips, you usually will experience a feeling of either excessive restriction and/or will not be able to keep anything, even fluids in your stomach/pouch.

That said, everyone is different...so to get a clarification on your question it would be helpful for you to discuss this with your medical team.

I did not fell any restriction until my last fill. I was 10 months out and could basically eat what I wanted. Now I feel too tight You will get there just hang in there.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
