Protein Powders - HELP!!!

Recommended Posts

I went shopping for Protein powders today ...... I was sooooo confused. :scared: I went to GNC and I ended up getting a container of 'something' because I had no idea what to get. They don't even sell single serving packages so you can try them first ..... $30.00 for 1 small container.

Where do you all get your's out and what kind are you getting ........ how about price. I wish I could find some single servings to try out first.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Sherri

I use Isopure PerfectCarb from GNC at $52 per 5# container. THey sell the same thing online for about $28. :straight

I also use "Six Star" -- I think it's from Wal-Mart... I told my mom to go buy a Protein powder that meets X requirements so I'll have something there when we visit, and that's what she found.

I don't know of many stores that sell single servings, but if you go to ww.wbariatriceating.com you can order single servings for like $1 and change... I think you can order samples of everything they sell. You can use that site to find something you like, then buy it wherever works for you.

Sherri, we had heard about a product called Unjury Protein Powder, through some of the threads here at LBT. The only way you can get it is online or phone. It is about $70 a month...four containers....and each one should last you about a week. Joy practically GAGS with every Protein powder she tried until the Unjury showed up. Now....she's even putting some in her milk and eating it with her Cereal. She adds a little to her Carnation Instant Breakfast each morning. Check it out at www.unjury.com

Sherri, Randy is right! Unjury is the best IMO. You can order samples on their web site. Give it a try. Jerome (owner) is very helpful and there are also many recepies there for you to try. Each scoop is 20 grams of Protein.< /p>

Sherri,

Go to your local health food/natural food store (not a GNC) and tell them the requirements that you want to meet. They are a wealth of info and will be able to help you find what you are looking for and needing. Good luck!

NOt banded YET...but on the road!

I use a product called Body Fortress. You can get it at Wal-Mart for about $17 per tub and it has 20 grams of Protein per scoop. I get the vanilla flavor, mix 2 scoops (40 grams of protein) into 1 - 2 cups of fat free milk, 3 tablespoons of fat free, sugar free chocolate pudding, and 1 tablespoon of reduced fat creamy Peanut Butter. It tastes like I'm drinking a liquid Reese's Peanut Butter Cup. Mmmmmmm. Unfortunately the carb count climbs up because of the add-ins so I alternate my yummy Protein Drink one day and not so palatable Isopure Icy Orange drink the next. Seems to be working for me so far.

Good luck.

Sherri,

The Vitamin Shoppe and GNC carries Zero Carb Isopure clear ready to drink 20 oz bottles. You can try many of the flavors since they sell single bottles. I but it by the 12 pack case which is much cheaper. If there isn't a store near you, it can be searched on the internet to see if any place local sells it since it is quite expensive to ship . Good Luck

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
