I Need Some Help Advice. Banded On Monday And Having Issues

Recommended Posts

I was banded on Monday and the funny thing is I felt great on Monday. At least 5 hospital staff told me I looked great !! My doctor requires and overnight stay and I woke up Tuesday to a whole different ball game. Severe nausea to the point that they wouldn't discharge me until Wed afternoon. They think it was a reaction to the narcotics so I am not allowed to take any pain medicine. Trying to suck it up , drink and walk but now I have severe yellow diarehea( sorry to be so graphic). I thought I prepared myself but I am so sick and I just want to cry, I am sure if will get better but I just wanted to hear that from someone who has been there.

I haven't been there but please keep yourself hydrated. I know that you are either constipated or have diarreha........most are constipated. It will get better, just keep sipping.

The liquid diet does that. And then the meds from surgery. Once you get on mashies it returns to normal;)

I had the same exact problem. The morphine was too much so they switch my pain meds. It gets better. Promise!

All I can say is I wish I had diarreha right about now, the other option isn't that fun either.

Hi. I got the diarrhea too. I think its the anesthesia because i had back surgery last year and the same thing happened. Sorry you're feeling so lousy. I remember feeling the way you are. I was banded 6 weeks ago snd i feel great now and have lost 38 pounds already. Hang im there. You will feel better before you know it!!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
