Fiber please!

1/2 cup of milk isn't that many calories, is only about 5.5 carbs or you could use the carbwise milk and it would be less... it's worth the carbs for that amount of milk since it really makes the fiber one way more yummy!

I use 1/3 of a Protein Shake on my shredded wheat (chocolate rocks!), but there are some GREAT ideas here scribbling notes...

Since I have almost no restriction, I use SF metamucil (psyllium husk) on occasion. Lumps can be painful for tight bands, or so I have been told. The thickness of it gives me a sense of fullness too.

I think you really have to stop and ask yourself how healthy a diet is if you cannot maintain regularity naturally?

it makes no sense to me, If you cant even go regularly then the balance of your diet is all wrong, simple - your body is telling you HEY, I'M NOT GETTING WHAT I NEED TO WORK HERE! I guess I'd acquiesce and drink Protein shakes to get the Protein he wants you to get (I refuse to drink em) but I'd truly add more than 20g carbs. I'd eat muesli or oatmeal and plenty of fruit and veg.

Cereal by the way is one of THE most filling foods for me, best thing to eat, it sticks we me for simply ages. And I often block up on Soup for some reason and it fills me up too. That theory about the funnel, it just absolutely has not proven true for me. Fibrous foods are still more filling, even if they're liquidy than non fibrous foods are to me.

Due to diabetes, I am probably eating more food per day than other bandsters, so will likely have a slower weight loss.

My diabetic nutritionist wants me to eat 60 g of carbs per day, having said that I think my regularity has more to do with daily raw veggies and fruit, apples. pears, broccoli, etc. than grains.

I'm thankful for this thread because now that I am a couple months post-op I am having some trouble with Constipation. I have some flax seed in my cabinet but no way to ground them and don't want to eat them whole.

(they're better for you ground, anyway)

I had also considered putting some form of fiber in my Protein Drink, but wasn't sure what would be best. Anyone heard of Citrucel?

:D

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
