So I'm 6 days post and today I was at a meeting and didn't have any Protein Drinks or liquids with me and my stomach starting growling so loud like I was starving. I've been hungry lately but even b4 the band my stomach would growl but not ever that loud that the person next to me could hear it. Is this normal?

Happens to me all the time, but it's not usually hunger pangs...just a noisy stomach!

Exactly. I have a noisy stomach post band too. Sometimes in the middle of the night it is loud enough to wake the dead!

Right after surgery this is very common. It usually, quiets down after awhile. But, as Elcee said sometimes it still "talks" to me. I really don't think that the after surgery thing is technically a hunger growl, I think it is just a tummy getting used to being kind of empty. Does that make sense to anyone? Karen

I am almost 5 months out and mine is still noisy. Not sure why, but the doctor says it's normal. It's annoying in church when the preacher is praying and my stomach talks back- people think I am starving myself, but I'm not.

Yah, unfortunately it seems to be a common theme post band. I am 3 1/2 mos. post-op and have this frequently.

I'm 10 months post op and my stomach is very noisy. My kids laugh because we'll all be watching a movie, then out of the silence my stomach will start growling and talking loudly lol.

It's not hunger, though. It's just stomach noises. It's a bit difficult in the beginning to realize it, but just because you're stomach is growling and noisy doesn't mean you're hungry.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
