Introducing....diva1920

Hello everyone! I am brand new to this group and I am so excited to get more information. I can't wait to meet new people as I go through this transition. I just had my surgery on October 22 and I am healing and embracing what is to come. :)

I'll weigh less in my birthday suit, but I forgot, he already seen me in that..

So, what happened to Diva? She tries to introduce herself and you guys scare her away. Nice going!

Sorry for butting in, but you 4 are everywhere on this site, so you must know your stuff. Would you tell me what you know about stomach and/or band erosion? I read a post today from someone who almost died and I am freakin out. She also mentioned you only get 4 to 5 problem free years with the band. My date is up in the air awaiting bcbs to certify the hospital(?). All my pre op is done. Then I read that post and ...yikes.

No butts allowed.... Are you trying to say we get around??? Ok jokes over with. To answer your question.

In my opinion (this is not based on research or stats), if a band is too tight it slips and if that slip goes undetected then the band erodes into the stomach.... again my opinion. The stat on this occuring are low (don't know the numbers exactly). There is a forum for Lap Band Complications and you will find stories about this and slipped bands.

Again, my opinion. Every surgery has the chance of complications and yes we have a foreign object in our body so there is the posibility for complications. I felt that the risk of such complications was worth getting my health and life back.

Does that answer your question?

You're not butting in, we are. I really don't know much about band erosion, but the statistic's are more in our favor not to have an erosion. You have to understand sometimes trolls come on this board with the thought on freaking people out, so don't believe everything you read. Sometimes it's just a mean spirit butthead.

My best advice is to research everything you can, through the boards, books and talking with your surgeon.

Your surgeon is the best person to get your info from, after all he's on your team to make this successful.

You can also enter band erosion in the search engine and find out what everyone else is saying.

I know there is a lot of ppl who have had there bands for many years. For me it was either the band or I was going to die from obesity. Good luck !

Thank you so much. I should no better than to read the horror stories. I decided a while ago I'd rather gastric surgery now than cardiac surgery in the future.

Please keep working the site....and aren't you the one that the p#n#s police caught today????? : )
